Serial Node

Switches & LEDís

  • At the bottom side youíll find three LEDís and two switches
    • On de left side the SERVICE-switch next to the SERVICE-led. This lights up when you push the service-switch. When this led flashes or is lit continuously, a severe software problem occurred in the node. (Call us)
    • Second a red LED: RECEIVE-led
    • Third a red LED: TRANSMIT-led
  • The RJ45 connector is not in use.
  • The seven segment display shows the setting off the flags. The decimal point flashes when data is received on the serial interface of the node.
  • SERVICE-switch. This transmits the ID-number of the node.
  • The switch on the right side is not in use

Connection :

There is a 6-way connector for the network on the left side.

There is a DB9 male connector for the serial RS232 connection of the coffee machine on the right side of the bottom.

Connection cables for the Shearer coffee machine are included.


Within the neuron program you can influence the behaviour of the node by setting different flags


  • 0 : Test: By connecting the Serial node to a terminal on the PC it's possible to test the node. To do so, configure the terminal with following settings:
    • Baud: 9600
    • 8 Data bits
    • 1 stop bit
    • No parity
    • No handshaking (flow control)
    • Send the product number followed by 0x0D. (ex. 5$0D --> product 5 is send)
  • 1 : CSI Schearer protocol
  • 4 : Leopard valve - RF Controller (only supported in sernodes with firmware v1.7 and up)
