MDB Node

Switches & led’s

  • First a yellow led : SERVICE-led. Lights up when you push the service-switch. When this led flashes or is lit continuously, a severe soft-ware problem occured in the node. ( call us )
  • Second a red led : RECEIVE-led
  • Third a red led : TRANSMIT-led
  • Bottom a green led : lights up when power supply is ok.
  • Vend start: green LED: When a vend is started, this LED lights up. It is now possible to buy a product from the machine. The Vend can only be started after you've entered a valid card in the reader.
  • MDB Receive: yellow LED: The MDB module receives instructions from the automat. If this LED is blinking sequentially then the communication with the automat should be ok.
  • MDB Send: red LED: The MDB node replays on the requests of the automat. This LED lights up only a few times.
  • A push-button switch : SERVICE-switch. This transmits the ID-number of the node.

Connection :

The 6-way connector

pin 1+12V (input)
pin 2GND
pin 3NC
pin 4Network A
pin 5Earth ( shielding )
pin 6Network B

The 12V can be obtained from nodes with these outputs, such as pneumatic beer valve controller or post-mix controller, or from a separate supply.

The 6-way connector used for the MDB bus.

pin 1+34V
pin 2DC Power return
pin 3NC
pin 4Master Receive
pin 5Master Transmit
pin 6GND

Settings inside the MDB node

Switch 8: OFF ==> Cacheless device:

  • Switch 1: Start of product count

  • Switch 4: Cashless device address
    • ON: Address = 0x60
    • OFF: Address = 0x10 (default when using 1 device on the MDB bus)

  • Switch 5: Not used
  • Switch 6: Not used
  • Switch 7: Not used

WARNING: Switch 8 is only valid when using version 3.0 or higher! On lower software versions only the Cacheless device is supported!

Software

Within the neuron program you can influence the behaviour of the node by setting different flags

Flags:

  • 0 :(default): Vend only possible with Credit card
  • 1 : Vend only possible with tap card
  • 2 : Vend possible with Credit card and tap card
  • 100 : Test Mode: The MDB interface will always enable a product and sends a tap action on his first product with in the quantity the product number of the vending machine.
  • Any other setting: There is no vend possible

BE WARE: The product in the automat that has the first choise (choise AA, 11, 1A, 1, ...) corresponds with product 1 in DINO.

WARNING: * Install DINO version 28.30 or later !! * When using the MDB interface as a Coin Acceptor the Credit card mode will work, but is not fully supported.

Product numbering in Coin Acceptor mode:

In this mode the numbering is done by setting the product prices. When selecting 0 decimal places the numbering is like this:

  • Product 1 ==> price 0.01€
  • Product 2 ==> price 0.02€
  • …
  • Product 32 ==> price 0.32€
  • A free product will gave price 0.00€ and will not be seen by the payment system.

By selecting 2 decimal places the product numbering is as following:

  • Product 1 ==> price 1€
  • Product 2 ==> price 2€
  • …
  • Product 32 ==> price 32€
  • A free product will gave price 0€ and will not be seen by the payment system.
